What can I do to land more slowly in Flight Simulator X?
Hey there. I'm a fairly experienced Boeing 737 pilot (in-game, of course :P). I can fly and land the default 737 very well. Landings are still a bit bumpy, but otherwise, they're okay. But I'd like to get a PDMG plane soon. I'd actually prefer a 777. But I can't even land the Jetliner 757 or the default 747. I always land too hard.
This is how I land with the 737:
Flaps: Fully extended
Knots/ Mach: 130-140 Kias
I pull the control stick toward me to keep the plane level. And just before touchdown, the altitude announcement comes: 50 40 30 20 10. And at 30, I slowly pull the nose even higher. And then I land…
How to land with the 757 or 747
Flaps: Fully extended
Accounts Mach: (757 130 – 140 knots) (747 160- 170 knots)
I also have the altitude announcement on the 757. And I approach the 747 and 757 the same way as I do the 737. Only when landing, the plane falls just before touchdown… even though I don't change the speed… The announcement of 50 40 30 20 10 is announced very quickly… That means I'm losing altitude too quickly. So far, I've always tried to quickly rev up the engines, but no luck :/.
And what do I want from you now?
I want you to give me tips on how to land the 757 and the 747 better, or what I need to change so that it doesn't land just above the runway….
A little faster landing.
The 747 with a little >Sprit in the tank and fully loaded naturally needs a significantly higher landing speed than the small 737.
And you should also see that it is not always sensible to land with Flaps Full. For example, if you have a long runway and should take a taxiway at the end so that you can quickly get to the gate, it’s time to put the autobrake small and land with less flaps. This way you reduce rolling times and rolling paths enormously.

If the machine starts to fall and despite counter-steering you move too fast down, then you are clearly too slow. If you try 10 knots more, it should go better.
Thank you so much and I landed the 757 very soft :P.
So at the 737, it’s exposed at 50 feet over the ground, so nose slowly pull up and take gas out. Then the flyer should put it soft. At the PMDG, the FMS will show you the speed you should have above the threshold.
The FMC is very helpful. It calculates the approach speed and the landing speed. And it always depends on which trim you have. If the trimming for the landing is in the perfect value, you don’t even have to pull the nase so high except for the touch down naturally
