What are business expenses on a tax return? Why was -1,000€ deducted from my account (see photo)?

I used a tax program to prepare my tax return, and the €4,365 is what I earned last year from my part-time job. However, €1,000 is automatically deducted. I didn't even set that option. What are business expenses, anyway?!

Advertising for the workplace e.g.

… created my tax return, the 4365€ is what I earned last year by my mini job. But I’m automatically deducted 1000€.

Only if your mini-job employer has paid you off with a wage tax class! If, however, your mini-job employer pays the 2% flat-rate tax, you will not be entitled to the advertising cost package :-((

Greetings siola55

PS:

For 2022 the advertising cost package was even increased to 1,200€;-))

As a single, you can add the basic amount of €10.347 in 2022 + the increased advertising cost package of €1,200, i.e. a total of €11,547 income tax-free deserve!

9 (1) S. 1 EStG: Advertising costs are expenses for the acquisition, safeguarding and maintenance of revenue.

Examples:

  • Working materials
  • Transport costs
  • home office
  • Travel expenses
  • Application costs
  • Conversion costs
  • Account management fees

Then there is also the employee package amount (for 2021 still at €1,000, for 2022 it was increased to €1,200).

It will automatically deduct you from non-self-employed income if you don’t pay higher advertising costs (which must be paid depending on).

Apparently, you didn’t specify a higher WK.

This is not quite true: the advertising cost package is available at the minijob only at the wage tax class variant!

However, the mini-job % flat rate tax paid, then unfortunately there is no advertising cost package :-((

You can find the definition in § 9 Income Tax Act

https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/estg/__9.html

And the advertising cost package amounts to be considered at least:

Because a flat rate of €1000 will be deducted. The state assumes that everyone in the year has 1000€ in advertising costs.

It has even been increased by now, but this is only effective in the next tax year.

If you have higher advertising costs than 1000€, you can also apply them. So all that’s over the 1000€.

Advertising costs are expenses you have to purchase and receive a job. It also applies to vocational or educational training. This is quite extensive, just try Google.

Not at the flat-rate minijob wage! The 1000€ advertising costs (for 2022 was increased to 1200 €!) are only available with the wage tax class variant!

Advertising costs are, for example, travel costs to work or work clothes.

Almost everything about private spending intended for the profession.

Why are you making a tax return? You don’t pay taxes at the minijob. Or do you have other incomes that make a statement necessary?

Depends on… whether a flat-rate tax or a wage tax variant!
