What do you give musical performers?
Hello, I'm going to see a musical soon and want to give the lead actor a gift. But I'm not sure what to give an actor, and I'm not sure if he'll like it or if it'll come across as awkward. Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this?
You can talk to the performers after the show at the StageDoor, get autographs and take photos – if they want to and choose the exit (and it’s really super important not to crowd anyone, run behind anyone and stay polite).
But if you don’t know people, I wouldn’t give anything. Most musical exhibitors often relocate (something just lands in garbage), get enough “usless” gifts and many also accept for example nothing baked or the like of people they don’t even know. What can be given if there is an occasion and you know the performers enough to assess if and what they would be happy about.
A friendly, short conversation and praise for moments that have touched each other are a much better gift.
Thanks for the star 🙂
It takes good luck and patience (or good relationships) to get to actors. Mostly this can happen via the stage entrance (Stage Door), usually the actors leave the theatre via this path. But it is necessary to schedule very long waiting times.
Give them something is hard. Most people don’t want it. You can embarrass yourself rather than make them a joy. You can only do it if you know the performer better (personally).
Starlight-Express has no single leading actor. By the way, I don’t know how you can get to him at all. The disappearance after the show behind the stage (so not for you too)
nothing – you don’t get to…
