What happens if the postal code is incorrect?
Hello folks,
I have a small problem. I bought something on eBay classifieds again. Since you always get an email notification when the seller responds, I just replied in the email.
When I entered my address, I started a new line after my name and house number , so I pressed Enter, but since the seller was probably looking at the messages on eBay classifieds, I couldn't see that. Or rather, it was all one word, so after the house number came the postcode without a gap, so now you think my house number is still part of the postcode, even though I pressed Enter in the email. (I hope you can understand 😅)
Since I didn't notice this, I paid the money and the seller sent it to the wrong postcode and yes, that was about a week ago and I did tell the seller but it was too late because he had already sent it and I hoped that it would arrive despite the first one wrong digit, but it doesn't seem to have arrived yet.
Now I would like to know if it is a big deal that there is still an incorrect first digit in the postal code or if it will still arrive.

Postcodes are five digits, that should be known to everyone, so I think the risk that someone thinks your house number would be part of the PLZ, is very low.
thanks for the answer! But I mean now, if the mail also realizes that the first digit is wrong… or not included…
This first flies out of automatic sorting and has to be manually processed. If there is only 1 x in Germany this should not be a problem. But if you live in “Neustadt” (there are about 30x) it becomes difficult . Many city names are 2 or 3 x in Germany
Normal identification, the mail can recognize and correct this on the basis of the name of the place, and as a result the mail can delay.

This has gone to the wrong region through the wrong PLZ.
This will come if at least road and place are correctly specified.
In the worst case, go back to the sender.

if in the specified location there is also the road written by you and in the wrong place (because of the plz) this road does not lead the post the shipment after a few days to the right place.
