What do you have to do to start a school band?

Hey, I'm planning on starting a school band, which I don't think the teachers care about because the music room is always free and I have people, but do I have to do anything else? Or what's involved?

Hi! That’s a great idea, I’m pushing the thumbs that it works. Your question:

If all band members incl. Instruments are together, this is half the rent.

With regard to the use of the music space, however, you will not be able to do so without the consent of the school, whether a teacher or school management. This certainly has technical reasons, but also clearly reasons. Imagine what happens when you get there, you’ll talk about who’s liable.

I’d talk to one of the music teachers and ask if he could imagine supporting you there, maybe as a school project. If you don’t want a music teacher, I’d ask the school line directly.

My band found its beginning as a workshop or as a band project in urban youth care in their music space. We were coaxed by an employee and were often “the houseband” at celebrations. At some point, we have degenerated from the project and were no more young people, but we have been able to rehearse for a few years and for payment of a small use fee for maintenance together with other bands there. Maybe there’s something like that in your city.

Good luck.

I would definitely talk to the teachers so that you have permission to use the room. Perhaps a teacher even wants to go along and then the planning is simpler because each school has its rules and teachers are usually better qualified. I know that many schools offer something like that.

Pronounce with the teacher or teacher and find the people who also like

In the secretariat, ask if the space can be used for this.

Write a request to school.
