Was muss ich beim ersten Urlaub alleine beachten?

Ich fliege demnächst nach Kanada und möchte das Land erkunden. Dafür werde ich mir einen Pick-Up mieten und Tagesausflüge machen.

I found it good for the first trip alone to choose a country where I can speak.

Canada would not have gone by budget, but would have been an interesting choice.

If you’re younger, you’ll have to look at the car rental companies. Think about the international driving licence – a paper lobe you have to bring to normal German.

Take care of all forms in time, apply for passport, eTA, credit card (best two),…

Depending on what is called “afternoon”, you could still experience road blockages due to weather conditions in autumn, winter or spring, there is a daily information on whether your planned route is possible. You need snow chains. In addition, you may need to schedule much more time for excursions, so the “day trip” may be also take two three days quickly.

I would advise you to plan a lot of things alone, but still be open to spontaneous ideas. That’s how you have a rough scaffold, where you can go long and give you some safety.

If something goes wrong, that happens when planning well, don’t turn through. Breathe briefly, see how bad it is and then replan.

If you like, look for an emergency contact (e.g. someone from the family or a friend) who knows the rough route and where you always log in between.

On the topic of safety: listen to your abdominal feeling. If it tells you that the area is not safe (both because of people, animals or nature), then it’s better to disappear too much than to regret it or not to regret it. Especially nature is not without if you don’t know it.

Just by yourself, you should consider whether you’re getting mobile internet. Many mobile phones are now eSIM suitable and these are often no longer expensive. You won’t get anywhere when it comes to nature, but more than if you’re only dependent on free Wi-Fi in accommodations.

I wish you a lot of fun.

If this is your first vacation alone – how old are you? I ask because the plan with the rental car can fail if you are still relatively young. So, in doubt, make sure that the minimum age for renting a car is!

You also need to remember that Canada is MORE much bigger than Germany! “Day Trips” don’t take you far. Rather, such trips are often made as a round trip or Roadtrip with several accommodation along the route. Here, the organization has to plan the route and the accommodation and is best booked.

Then you need a valid passport, because with Perso you cannot enter Canada. If you do not have German or EU citizenship, it can even become more complicated…

Oh, and with your EC card you won’t get far. Classic credit cards like Visa are the means of choice there!

The most important thing: All you use and consume on the go, you have to pay for yourself if you don’t have a generous donor.

In Canada, the dangers in nature are often greater than those caused by other people.

And where is your location? The country is too big for day trips.
