What makes more difference, a better CPU cooler or better thermal paste?

Hello, I'm having a problem where my CPU is at 100% capacity in some games, while the GPU is only at about 20-30%. I read I can allocate fewer cores to the game. So, for me, only 4 cores instead of 6. Will that work?
Hello, I bought a gaming PC six months ago, but I don't know how to clean the dust that gets into it because I don't want to damage it. I'll let my colleague do it because he knows about this kind of thing. My question is, can it be bad because of dust, like breaking…
Hello everyone. I have a question about my PC. My current SSD is unfortunately defective. I would like to replace it with an M.2 SSD. Unfortunately, I don't know which one would fit my motherboard, or which one my motherboard supports. Does anyone know which SSD I could use? My budget is €100 or less,…
Hello PC specialists. I bought a M.2 2280 PCie Gen 3×4. Picture attached. Bought and have bought a motherboard B660M DS3H AX DDR4 there is already a 1TB Kingston NV1 M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVME installed, it says in the description 2x 2 x M.2 Ultra Storage Performance Connectors 2 x PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2…
Hello, I just bought a new monitor. I want to connect my home PC and my work laptop to it and use the same mouse and keyboard (both USB) for both. Since the new monitor has a USB hub , the idea was to connect the mouse and keyboard directly to the monitor and then…
I configured a PC with an integrated graphics card in the CPU from Mifcom, but now I see that I can't connect my monitor anywhere. What can I do?
The difference between different heat-conducting pastes is minimal. Above all, there is nothing when the heat is transferred to the cooler more quickly if the cooler does not succeed in removing the heat.
Only if you have such a good cooler that it is not the limiting factor (e.g. Custom Loop water cooling), then it can be worth getting out again 23° C. through a better heat-conducting paste.
But otherwise, a better cooler or a better case always has the bigger effect. Depending on what you currently have for a cooler, you can quickly get out of 10°C or more with a better cooler, which is obviously much more than the low single-digit values you can expect from another WLP.
Hello,
the CPU cooler is more crucial.
But without good “cattle fat” it is not possible.
Hansi
Nice name.
Yes,
I recommend Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut,
that is as good as new after many years, even with constant o.c.
There no silicone oil runs out, does not cure, and maintains stable values.
Hansi
Sometimes the cupboards are hidden under the keyboard.
Before I make a box, I’ll look at YouTube, or somewhere else,
some videos.
This can help us out.
And if the case is damaged, Ebay is a good address.
Hansi
Anyway, I wouldn’t have got it without violence.
That was such a laptop according to the motto “I don’t want to be broken”.
That thing wasn’t so great…
Apart from the display, others had already broken down into all individual parts.
But whatever is particularly annoying, it is when the screw head is turned off.
Sure.
First of all, that there are no screws or screws too much.
Or you damaged the case.
It’s kind of like getting rid of every pie.
The art is bringing the boxes together again,
that it looks like new.
These were all the dust mice,
that you made homeless.
But this is a completely different question.
Hansi
Had to break the laptop, but didn’t leave.
Meaning I didn’t change it or something.
Only roughly cleaned from the outside.
But that thing should be passively cooled suddenly 20°C, I can’t.
They cannot reinvent physics and chemistry.
But I swear to this cat fat.
In 1991, my colleagues from Robotron contributed to this.
Hansi
Jup.
But look, maybe I’ll get a hygronaut next.
That was one of the best temperature improvements I had.
Ca 10°C less on CPU and GPU.
Had a case where I had scraped the fan at nem laptop, and then the work had stopped.
According to measurements, the thing was ironically then 20°C cooler?
always good,
if you have a bite in the drawer.
Hansi
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I bought it at my CPU with it for a 5s and there was another little rest.
I haven’t been empty since then.
The other day, I had a laptop where I thought it was defective, but it was only on the heat-conducting paste.
It was so dried that you could read in it the labels on the The of the graphics chip😂
And dust in the fans and the cooling fins…
But there were worse cases.
Yeah, the Arctic MX4 is pretty good.
But it’s stuck too much.
I’m making a lot….
And for the MX6 there are still long-term values.
Hansi
Ever had the MX-4.
But I heard they were supposed to be good at Thermal Grizzly.
It’s not good.
I find a better cooler more important. The paste should only fill the unevenness between Cpu and cooler, so that the cooler also sits perfectly.
Depends on whether you already have a high end cooler and go to a minimum better one. Idr. Does the cooler make a greater difference.
Hi.
The cooler.
The paste is just a super thin layer that optimizes heat transfer. On the other hand, the giant patrol of coolers stands.
I think both are equally important.
This is correct, a good heat-conducting paste is important. However, even relatively favorable WLP is more than sufficient for most coolers. Only when you have a very powerful cooler and a very hot chip is it worth a “high-end” heat-conducting paste. Otherwise, it can be assumed that the WLP supplied with most coolers is more than sufficient.
Better CPU cooler.
However, the heat-conducting paste is of course also crucial to a part.
But not like the CPU cooler.
