What can you do against the cold?

Hi, my four guinea pigs currently live in a fairly large enclosure in the garage, but it's so cold there that the fresh food and water bowls freeze. Then they stop eating. I would try to avoid using a heat lamp, as the cable would have to be laid across the driveway, and animals like raccoons could chew on the cable at night. Does anyone have any tricks/tips?

Actually, you should have an isolated shelter where you can put the water and feed it. Because this should always be over freezing.

We keep our guinea pigs out and in winter make stormopor plates on the walls that are insulated. At Gitern’s at the door, we plexiglas so we didn’t get cold air.

We give them always warmer water(of course not to hot the one they can burn and whoever it is too cold we change the water several times a day.

If it is too cold for the guinea pigs, you can simply do straw or hay piles into the enclosure in which they can whistle in there.
