What can I do for my cats?

I have two Norwegian Forest Cats, a male and a female. My cat has been lying under my bed since this morning and hasn't moved an inch. My tomcat is lying on the couch and comes to me every 20-30 minutes to check if everything is still the same as before, then goes back to the couch.

There's a fan in my room. That's why my cat sleeps under my bed. It's nice and cool in here. But my tomcat doesn't want to come here. He's afraid of the fan. (Understandable)

Nevertheless, both cats are very hot and they are also wheezing and have trouble breathing (they have a lot of fur, Norwegians after all).

I put water out for them. They're drinking and eating, but nothing. They're just lying around. They don't want to play or anything (understandably).

In addition, both of them are terrified of water.

So what can I do to make my two cats feel better? It's going to be warm over the next few days, and I can't stand to see them suffer so much.

Thank you in advance

Hello,

I ventilate well in the night and have the balcony door wide open so that the apartment can cool down. The balcony is self-explanatory with catnet.

In addition, on these hot days in Berlin I completely covered the bathroom window with a non-transparent and dark curtain. The bathroom floor is made of tiles and these are pleasantly cool.

On the day I darken the entire apartment before the sun rises completely so that the cooler can stay out of the night. All windows, except the balcony window and here only a small gap, are closed.

This makes it so pleasantly cool in my apartment that I partially freeze and warm up on the balcony.

The balcony is self-explanatory with a large parasol protected from the sun.

You can lower the ambient temperature in the apartment further by raising freshly washed, moist laundry, or distributing moist towels in the apartment.

It can also help to allow cold water to enter the shower cup or bathtub and to set up the fan at a safety distance in such a way that it blows directly into the cold water.

In each room I always have a water fountain to stand. These basically create a good living environment.

Under the wet food you can mix some water and also offer cat soups.

As far as everything is going to turn off electrical appliances so that they do not release warm exhaust air and heat up the environment.

My cats don’t sweat.

Your cats all thoughtful good.

Best regards 🙋 ♀️ +😺 +😺

Hello, thank you very much for the yellow star! 🙂 I hope your apartment has cooled down and your cats too. In Berlin, it’s just extremely gay.

Maybe they could put on the tiles in the bathroom or in the bathtub.

What country do you live in?

Wet towels offer. My Norwegian does not smile, because he can use all the rooms and searches for the coolest places.

Hello

You can buy a cooling mat for cats (approx. €20) on Amazon or in the pet shop. This may help your cats ^^

Can you get an air conditioning.

Otherwise, brush your cats properly so they lose their thick undercoat.

The rest should then regulate the coat itself.

Do you live in an attic apartment, or why is it so warm in your apartment?

Then all the roller shutters down, water in all the basins that are there (washing basin, shower/bath tub), leave the fan to the clean powder, or leave a bowl with inserts from the freezer + water and then the fan to distribute this cool air.

Uh hah!
All the blinds down, windows on, water as I write in my answer. The blinds should also make the room dark. Not those who are white.
