What is meant by earlier approval?

Hello,

I'm currently on Hochschulstart to apply for degree programs. Now I need to submit some documents by mail:

1. Application for admission with original signature
2. An officially certified copy of your university entrance qualification(s) (e.g. high school diploma).
3. A copy of the previous admission or deferral notice.

I don't understand what the third point means. Is admission to the Abitur required? I would appreciate it if someone could help.
