What's wrong with my nose?

Hello, I have the problem that the right side of my nose is always completely blocked at night and I cannot sleep because of it.

Until four or five days ago, I was always dependent on nasal spray (I'd been using it before bed for over a year), but I stopped using it five or so days ago. I still can't sleep properly.

It takes 4 to 6 hours at the most before I wake up again, and I can barely breathe through my right nose, which robs me of sleep. During the day, I can actually breathe perfectly with it; if I sit up and then get up, if that wakes me up, I can breathe better, but when I lie down again, it immediately closes again.

I don't understand. It's even gotten to the point where I sometimes have dreams where I try to breathe through my nose but suffocate or something.

I can't keep this up much longer before I have to resort to nasal spray for just the right side again. What should I do?

Such a nasal spray is intended only for very short application periods. Then it helps really well. If you use it longer, your mucous membranes will dry out and the situation will worsen. If you use it even longer, it can also lead to nasal blood. In any case, your mucous membrane deteriorates sustainably. Go to an HNO doctor who’ll give you a nasal ointment. The dry mucous membranes are often the reason for your clogged nose.

You can get nose patches that pull the nasal wings a little outward, so you better get air. Help me well. Either (too expensive) at dm or e.g. on Ebay.

You’re already addicted to nasal spray. You broke the mucous membranes in this nostril. This is irreparable as far as I know. Nose spray can be taken for a maximum of 2 weeks (mean I). Stands in the package leaflet you should always read!

Promise with your doctor if there is a solution.

Ask a doctor. He can also tell you what is damaged in your nose and what is not.

Go to the Neck-Nasen-Ohrenarzt, maybe you have a crippled nasal wall
