A side strip is wide enough to keep on it. This does not have to be the case with the edge of the road.

The side strip is always next to the roadways (left or right), while the edge of the road can be both the area in front and behind the line (carriage limitation).

According to StVO, the side stiffs are located on the edge of the road; if there is no side strip, one should hold on the right edge of the road – but on the left of the tyre limitation.

Thus, the definition changes depending on the context.

No, it’s not the same.

The edge of the road is the edge of the roadway. Who would have thought:D

The side strip does not belong to the driving strip and is intended primarily for breakdowns, accidents or other emergency situations in which a vehicle remains or must remain.
