Quote Wikipedia:

In contrast to the valence-coating formula, the valence electrons of the nonmetal atoms are shown individually imagewise and are not combined as pairs to so-called valence marks.

The boundary between the valence-wave formula and the electron formula is not uniform. In places, the term “electron formula” is even used synonymously for “valence line formula”. This is also called “electron formula according to Lewis”.

As a mixed form, there is also the spelling that one line replaces two outer electrons (free electron pair, non-binding electron pair) which occupy the same orbital. Points, on the other hand, symbolize individual electrons of an electron pair, which is not possible in the valence-speech manner.
