The hose is the so-called float chamber ventilation.

The hose is often mistakenly held for an overflow, but who looks exactly at the photo sees that it is far too high.

More likely, gasoline would run into intake manifolds and air filters than from this “overflow”.

This will be an overflow so that too much fuel can be derived from the carburetor.
