What is wrong with my scooter brake?

After replacing the brake shoes, I tried to bleed my brakes yesterday. The problem is: only a little brake fluid came out at the bottom at first, then nothing at all. No matter how hard or for how long I pumped, hardly any fluid came out. There's hardly any pressure on the brake lever, and you can only really pump when you're very close to the handlebars.

Anyone have any ideas? Is the entire brake lever/cylinder broken?

Why do you actually ventilate the brake if you only changed the load?

First of all, check whether the cylinder on the brake lever actually returns over the full length.

Discharge valve, activate brake, release vent valve, release brake. In the case of two-wheelers, gravity helps as if it were not absolutely necessary to close the system when releasing, but if it does not want it might be necessary.

Because of poorer/abused loads, one usually has a back pressure when the brake is actuated. So there was probably a problem before the change of the coating, because the change of coating has only made this even stronger.

After changing the lining, the brake pistons have to be moved out again so that the linings rest again. Probably but does not even work on the brake.

That’s the part on the handlebar that’s pushed in with the lever, I mean. Is that coming back? As I do not seem, if it does not come back completely, no fresh brake fluid can run out of the storage container, cannot vent and also does not bring the brake piston back.

This means that the liquid must also be refilled. The simplest one is to snuck up the lid first and look in. Machiker has written to check the piston / brake lever path, unfortunately not like. the lever should generate pressure or pressure when sufficient fluid is in it. no pressure build-up is now air รญm system. This is what makes a hose connection between the vent valve and the compensating container. Then you are pumped in a circle and until the brake fluid leaves bubble-free.

Brake fluid should be replaced all two years ode better earlier, up new refilling and pumping through to clean down. In the case of two-wheelers there is usually a half-liter for cars at least one liter.

Brake venting is one of the most difficult workflows in that I have already seen the most exhausted professionals with the best tools on it fail. Who knows what you did. Probably just pulled in more air through some Newbie mistake.
