A nice gag that saves costs you would have if you were to make them so quiet as the SBB Re460.

See, an old hat for you, but, unfortunately, technically completely out of hand.

With quiet and loud it has the least to do, magnetostriction is physically conditioned.

It also depends on the rule principle. With the DSR, it is physically connected to lower clock frequencies, since nothing needs to be lowered further.

Good luck!

You’re right: And what’s going on is also physically conditioned: that of noise insulation:

Here the shrine DB

And here the 460s:

New BLS Re 465 008-1 with super horn and Re 460 007-8 Mega Horn (youtube.com)

It was specially designed and used for rolling noise measurements, also from the DB!

The conductor comes from the ICE 1 of SIEMENS from 1991 – there it is played in Dur and in Moll, switched between the two at midnight. In the case of the GTO heads, the clock frequency had to be lowered in the free clocking (low speeds), and because the operators in Opladen with the “earlier Heulboje” have energized in summer on the open window, a skilled colleague in Erlangen has accommodated an octave as a sound conductor with the help of the well-tempered mood there. The melodies that are also available and activatable were never activated publicly, we only played them on test drives.

The sound is generated in the driving motors by magnetostriction (and with acoustic frequency doubling).

At that time, the colleague had created a kind of technical culture – against some reservations.

It’s funny that it took decades to be “remarked”.

this is an old hat: we know that has been in use since the Taurus.
