What do you think about the dream job of photographer/videographer? Can you earn real money there, not just by photographing people?
I'm 15 and have had a dream job for about five years now: being a photographer. What do you think about that? I mean, for example, filming cities with drones or working with a film camera for a real film. How much do you earn from that? Is it difficult? Which subject at school do you need most for that?
Creativity is important for good success on the one hand and knowledge of what attracts customers. What you have to do has to please potential customers so much that they are ready to spend money. Maybe it’s the special thing that nobody else offers and is just beautiful or exciting.
It’s not that easy to make a name as a photographer. Digital photography today also allows a less gifted person to take good photos. Technical skills are therefore not sufficient.
First and foremost, creativity stands here, which gives you a unique feature. gives you and your work a certain amount. You should develop your own eye and try to find a niche in this great world of photography. If you’re just photographing how and what others are photographing, you’re going to fall into the crowd.
You have to find something special that impresses people, fascinates etc. Therefore, I think that psychology is an important subject.
A good art education is certainly helpful, but also aspects of physics (light etc.) are essential. Overall, the technical side should be dominated, because this is the basis for everything else.
Hardly. You have to be realistic.
For some, it is enough for a secondary merit, for the majority, photography simply remains a hobby – really professionally can live of it then rather few.
The competition is great and the need is very clear – so yes, I think it is “heavy”.
Honestly, I don’t think a school subject is really good at this job. Creativity, a certain artistic and technical talent and a good marketing are, in my opinion, more “successful” than school subjects.

Yeah, they’re all dreams.
There are 100,000 hobby photographers….what do you mean?
They make it hard for you to get orders because there are many of them that are really good.
So you can do this by the way, because it is fun, yet you will need a serious, secure job to survive. With photography you will hardly earn money….
So really a lot of money you can’t earn, art in school would be helpful
Have you already shot video films? How do they get to your fellow human beings?
