ssd don’t have a long service life if they’re not always at the voltage – in the PC it’s hardly happening, but if you have something like this as a mobile part, that can be stupid.

hdd: significantly better – but they are magnetically stored. If there are data on a specific sector of hard drive, then magnetization after time – I already had – after 10 years or so were reading errors. So they would have to be recopyed/replayed from time to time.

CD / DVD: is stored visually – much better. But they can also age sometime. I have no experiences yet. But: limited storage capacity.

I personally use a mixture of HDD in nem NAS and optical storage on M discs. This is a special form of Blu-ray, which is supposed to last for over 100 years and is specifically intended for archiving. Up to 100 GB can be stored per disk and that is enough for my requirements.

As an alternative, you could also look at a tape drive.

The M in M-Disc stands for 1000 years. Was surely a typing mistake from you, and you just forgot a zero?!

Other question:
What does it take to archive its digital data (films, photos, letters, documents, etc.) on M discs? And how should it be ensured that my grandchildren can read this M-Discs?

Play on HDD and then deliberately every 5 years new .

And from each file at least 3 copies

Also HDD do not last forever

You lose magnetic force the mechanics could break.

I stand before the same problem

HDD of course

SSD is not a long-term storage medium

The best thing would be microfilms.
