Hey 🙂 My friends and I would really like to get started with PnP. However, none of us knows exactly where to start, what "systems" exist (we've only heard of DnD), and what all is needed. Can someone give me a detailed explanation? Where I might find some good information?

I can recommend the Savage Worlds system. It is easier than DnD, has fewer rules and does not need so many basic works to play it. Above all, the system is super flexible. You can play Fantasy or SciFi or Mystery/Horror or Superheroes etc.

What you need is strongly dependent on the System=Rule what you play.
FATE is designed for superheroes, while Trudvang covers Survival. DnD and DSA have a High Fantasy Setting, while Cyberpunk or Mech Warrior is for SF lovers.

If you know what kind of game you want, look at Youtube whether there are videos. Whether they are those who explain the rules or represent whole rounds. Here Orkensplitter TV is worth a look. They cover some questions of entry and are also quite short.
And then only helps read. Rulebooks, adventure books, forums… Don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t work right now. You have to learn how to play and guide.
