What does “shipment picked up at the desired location” mean at DHL?

I ordered something and now received a message from DHL saying the following:
I've never had this happen before and I don't know what I need to do to get my package. I didn't specify a preferred location, and I've already checked my garden, mailbox, etc., and even asked the neighbors.
I'm afraid the delivery person left it somewhere and then it got stolen or something.
I'm really desperate. What do I do now?

Note: The message “The shipment was picked up at the desired location” actually means that a delivery company has picked up the shipment at home with the customer (e.g. from a parcel box or from a secure storage location).
The term customer is variable here. I think you will get package that has been addressed to you. This was picked up by the sender (customer).

The German post has no status message for any case. Whether you can believe it or not does not matter.
And what you call “comic place” will be among other things a gathering place with a company or a person where packages are given. Not everyone has a shipping house. Packages are also picked up by trucks or vans for larger companies or small medium-sized companies with high parcel volumes.
