It actually means “suckle.” However, there is a further meaning in terms of languages and it is similar to the “Depp” in Germany.

jo “baran” literally means “Schafbock” in Russian, but it is often used as a skip word. When someone is called “baran”, you mean something like “idiot” or “dumb head”. It is used to say that someone is stubborn, stupid or clumsy. So if Russians say something like Olaf Scholz is a baran, then that’s not meant to be nice. 😅
