Hi.

sodium aluminum hydroxide and hydrogen gas are formed:

2 Al + 2 NaOH + 6 H2O → 2 Na[Al(OH)4] + 3 H2

The sodium aluminum hydroxide is then seen as a black substance.

Are you sure? First, it should be insoluble and secondly black, both of which I doubt.

But I also have no other explanation for the black coloration.
