Sardines are usually packed in relatively small doses in France You also in the normal supermarket in larger doses 500g is no rarity. This usually regulates the market is demanded and there are enough buyers then you get things usually also in larger units that is not desired it is also not offered.

For domestic use, small cans are sufficient, for commercial purposes there are also large cans. No man eats larger amounts of oil curtains because they are hard on the stomach. I basically only buy fresh sardines that I either roast immediately or roast like brathe rings and then marinate. Sound you more comfortable and you can also eat larger amounts.

The reason is that only small quantities are needed.

Hardly a person needs a kilo of inserted sardines at once;)

Well, they are very salty and very taste-intensive, of which only small amounts are generally required.

Don’t mess with anchovies.

Saving packaging material. No larger doses are required for such small products.

If you pack 1 kg of fish in a large can, you need less material than if you pack it in 10 small cans. This has to do with the larger surface of geometric shapes in relation to their volume.
