Why do I see people who are currently online on Instagram but nothing happens when they are gone?
For many of my contacts I can only see when they are online (green dot). Unfortunately I can't see anything after that. Only for one friend who I still have chat history from direct messages can I see current activity but also that he was active an hour or 30 minutes ago (for example).
What does that mean? I can see everything on my friend's account because he has our chat history. I have deleted the chat history for everyone else and since then I only see the current activity status (green dot). I have not deleted my friend's chat history, which is why I can see when he was last active. Is it possible that he still has our chat history on his Instagram? Actually, if my friend's chat history is deleted then I can no longer see when he was last active, right? Can I assume that he still has our chat history?

It is irrelevant what others keep or delete in their chats. You should ask why you think so much about it. You’re looking for control by trying to monitor the activity of others. But in the end this system only shows you what it wants. There’s no security, just your own obsessions that tie you up. Better focus on what you really want to achieve instead of losing yourself in such details.
