Why do you have to brush your teeth?

Animals don't brush their teeth, or at least they do it differently. At least, I haven't seen a picture of an animal with cavities. And what was it like before toothbrushes? Humans didn't brush their teeth for a very long time.

Before the invention of the toothbrush was the oral cavity of the people full of infections, which have partly led to death – yes, you read correctly: Many people have died of these infections of the oral cavity, sometimes apart from the toothaches and gaps in the mouth, making chewing more difficult.

A prisoner invented the toothbrush in the Middle Ages, was a bone with a hole, through which he fetched animal hair. He was patented and became famous with it. First order came from the military.

By the way, I also know dental stone and caries in animals, e.g. dog and cat. And veterinarians who take this away.

We humans brush our teeth because we can, not because we are the only living beings on the planet that need it.

If you have a dog or a cat, your vet will tell you to brush your teeth. Most people don’t do it, including me. As a result, I had a cat who had to be pulled a few teeth at the age, and a dog who had a painful toothbrush from which we knew nothing until his death.

Wild animals must be satisfied with carious or damaged teeth. Some starve when the pain is too strong to eat, or they lose too many to properly process their food. As people, we can go to a dentist and make our teeth repair even if we decide not to care for them.

And so that you’ve seen it, here’s a dog with caries:

Many animals do not live as long as man. They eat plants or use other animals (roll and plaster) to brush their teeth. People also get through longer time without teeth brushing, but then lose their teeth earlier. Animals are more accustomed to tooth pain.

Animal nutrition is the main reason for animals not having to brush teeth. By the way, dogs can get caries.

Modern people reach a high age. People often died early. It is helpful to care for his teeth.

Cleaning teeth has been part of oral hygiene for many decades, even centuries.

I’m sure you can googlen.

Animals also get toothaches…..see at Hagenbeck’s animal park in Hamburg……the vet had to answer.
