Why no aquatic plants for space farms?

I've never heard of any experiments using aquatic plants for potential space farms. It wouldn't work in zero gravity, that's clear, but what about greenhouses on other planets? Wouldn't it be easier to keep aquatic plants in a nutrient solution than to spray the nutrient solution on the roots?
