Why can a vein be clearly visible when there is body fat?

I've gained fat on my hips, and on one side, where the fat is, you can clearly see a vein. On the other side, with the same amount of fat, it's only slightly visible, or not at all. Why? Is this normal?

yes so is normal which are different in the body that is not exactly symmetrical
