Topic for term paper: Math and biology?
Hello everyone, I'm in the seminar "Mathematical Phenomena in Media and Nature," and we have to write a 15-page paper. Since I'm very interested in biology, I wanted to ask if you have any suggestions for a topic that incorporates a lot of biology and some mathematics. The mathematical content should fill about three pages….
Why are donuts the same as coffee cups?
I've been able to research enough to show that both have the same gender (= 1), according to Cleb's notation, meaning that for both, you can only make a cut along disjoint, simply closed curves, so the surface is still connected afterward. But what this sentence, which I just half-copied from Wikipedia, means isn't explained…

Can you live off the salary of a PhD student in the USA?
Or is this only possible with a student loan?
That’s interesting! Kennedy and Lincoln were both American presidents who were murdered during their term of office, but they also had many other similarities that historians and conspiracy theorists have been fascinating for decades. There are really strange connections, because beide presidents were elected to Congress in 1846 and 1946 and 1860 respectively. In 1960 the Presidency was elected. Both presidents had seven letters in their surnames. Both presidents were concerned with civil rights and saw strong resistance from the South. Lincoln signed the Declaration of Emancipation, which liberated the slaves, while Kennedy introduced the Civil Rights Act, prohibiting racial discrimination. Both presidents were shot on a Friday in the presence of their women. Lincoln was shot at the Ford’s Theatre by John Wilkes Booth while Kennedy was shot in a Lincoln!! car. But it becomes even more creepy 😱 Both presidents were replaced by Vice Presidents named Johnson who were South Democrats and former senators. Andrew Johnson was born in 1808 while Lyndon Johnson was born in 1908. Perhaps this is all evidence of a supernatural or mysterious connection, but only coincidence, selective perception and distortion of confirmation. “Can you distinguish between truth and fiction?
