Since I'm currently completely addicted to police series and was looking for SWAT and The Rookie on Netflix, I noticed that almost all other streaming providers have an extra season of both series. Why is this? Will they catch up, or will Netflix always be behind?

They have not acquired the corresponding licenses yet, quite simply.It is much cheaper to acquire them only one year or longer after the show.No streaming service can always offer all current seasons at any series, that is completely normal.There you have to patient or subscribe to corresponding providers.
Netflix is currently spending less money on licenses of foreign-produced series. Therefore, it may be quite possible that current seasons are only purchased a year later cheaper in the program or series disappear completely from the catalogue.
Because Netflix wants money, but doesn’t spend any licenses.
