Why do churches in Europe have spherical roofs?

So far, I've only seen such church steeple roofs in Hungary, Serbia, and Croatia, but never in Austria, Germany, or the rest of Europe. Do you perhaps know what they're for and why they're not so widespread?

In southern Germany this is mainly the case. With us in the southwest, it’s not like that.

They are completely common in Austria.

(I live in Austria and trust my testimony).

The roofs are called onion bonnets and they just exist for bonfires in southern Germany and Austria – as well as in the countries that you mentioned earlier belonged to Austria. They emerged in the Middle Ages in the space of the Christian Orthodox Church in Eastern Europe and spread from there as a style element to Central Europe.

These are Orthodox churches. I’m also Orthodox Christ and I know that.
