Of course there are monkeys in the Berlin Zoo. Very famous is Fatou (https://www.zoo-berlin.de/de/current/all-news/artikel/fatou-wird-65-years) for example, but from large to small there are many monkeys – here is a sweet video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZsZqxPDDX0&t=3s .

No, the lies of PETA about human apes are no reason, because they have long been refuted – current example: https://zoos.media/media/medien-echo/peta-laecherliche-anzeige-wegen-menschenaffung/ .

I was more concerned with the arguments of mental stress for the animals. And your text didn’t say anything about it…

And quite honestly: “Zoos and Co help to save animals from extinction”…you could rather help animals in nature…because as far as I know most animals bred in zoos cannot be emigrated and then it is questionable how meaningful it is to keep an animal genome alive.

Yes I agree to waste meaningless money does not make sense and you should help more affected areas/animals/people. However, I find it equally important to get an awareness, for example through media attention to the topics.

There are no psychological strains of animals in reputable Zoological institutions. To help animals only in nature is not enough and is not in the sense of the One Plan Approach of the World Conservation Union: https://zoos.media/medien-echo/ist-es-not-better-die-tiere-nur-in-ihr-natuerliche-lebenraum-zu-schuetzen/ It is very useful to keep many species alive because you cannot play Jenga with ecosystems without something happening.

There is a whole ape house with 4 species of human ape and various other primates.
