This can have various reasons.

  • The person interviewed cannot be English
  • The interview is broadcast at various news stations
  • The news reporter comes from an English-speaking country
  • The news reporter comes from another country and English is just a world language -> which obviously cannot everyone or can’t answer well.

Basically, the interview is then translated in the respective national language where it is broadcast or subtitles are subtitled.

  1. The person understands English, but can express himself better in her mother tongue
  2. The person does not speak English, but does not get visible to the viewer, the question is simultaneously translated. However, the simultaneous interpreter does not understand German.
  3. The interview was recorded and the passages where the interviewees are translated were cut out.
  4. The reporters do not speak German or the language of the interviewer.

This means that many citizens do not yet master English.

Probably the news reporter can only be English and the answers are translated to him or he understands the other language, but does not speak it enough.
