High-visibility vest when riding?

I (f/19) always wear a safety vest when riding and wanted to ask if I'm the only one?

This is actually how it has always been with me, whether it is a safety vest/high visibility vest when riding, a swimming/life jacket when swimming or simply a high visibility vest when running/cycling.

Is this normal?

Should I be embarrassed?

The following is written in § 17 StVO: Riders must be during dusk, in darkness and poor visibility conditions such as fog, snow or rain sufficiently illuminated be.

According to § 28 para. 2 StVO must be used for lighting at least:

  1. When driving cattle at the front a non-glazing lamp with white light and End a light with red light,
  2. When only a large animal or cattle are guided, a non-glazing lamp with white light, which is clearly visible on the left to the front and back.

A group of several riders forms an association which, according to § 27 StVO, must be made visible to the front by non-glazing lights with white light and to the rear by lights with red light or yellow flashing light. It is therefore not necessary for each horse to be illuminated accordingly.

Thus, even with light is to ride.

Safety vest I also wear, Warnweste eigtl only in the dark season when I am out in the dusk, darkness or one of the ever-popular grey-in-grey days. The horses are also equipped accordingly. And also for cycling, sports, with the dog out, I’ll wear warning vests or something like that.

Where I find the life jacket jz a bit exaggerated – in normal outdoor swimming pool or at the normal lake, if you don’t cross it or there are wild water. You’re a good swimmer.

You don’t have to be embarrassed.

Security is never wrong.

I wear a warning vest at dawn and the horse is also dressed. Also when I go out in the dark (in winter).

Now in the summer I don’t wear – I think you can see me enough. It certainly doesn’t hurt to wear one.

At least in poor visibility; if I ride into the evening or so, I am happy to be equipped with warning vest and other reflectors or flash blink.

No, you shouldn’t be embarrassed. Warning vests are always good to be seen, even during the day! I have to say that I don’t do that either. I’m just wearing a ride out at night.

when riding on the square is embarrassing.

and swimming in the outdoor swimming pool.

if you want to swim in lakes or naval waters, you need a swimming booy from 1.30m water depth to see you in time and don’t get over. You can also secure yourself if you get out of the power.
