Want to try cross-country jumping?
Hey, I was recently thinking about trying out some cross-country jumping with my horse next year. I think he'd really enjoy it. So I did a little research into what you need for it…
And I'm not sure about the boots. They have to meet certain criteria, and I want that for my horse, too—for example, that the front of the legs are protected. I don't have any boots like that yet, and I don't need them except for cross-country jumping.
So my question is, is it worth buying trail gaiters now, or asking for them for Christmas? Because I don't know if they're really something for us, and I haven't really researched where I can get them.
If so, do you have any recommendations that aren't prohibitively expensive? They shouldn't soak up water either…
Go to a really good trainer on course and you won’t need it. I know a veterinarian who keeps hunting courses and speaks the mouth fussy against the gaiters straight in the lower classes versatility or in the case of hunters. Overheated tendons are now more unstable and he says he could hire two more colleagues for the tendon injuries alone, since everyone thinks that without gaiters horses could not run.
If someone rides such huge jumps that gaiters make sense, please like the versatility professionals: gaiters, the top cool, these at the start on it and in the finish immediately cool down and legs in a targeted manner during tumbling.
No, for a couple of times, I wouldn’t buy off-road gaiters. But it must be careful that you may not be able to ride through the water with your normal gaiters, depending on which material they are.
Since I quite rarely use leg protection, I have a pair of side gaiters which I also use occasionally in the normal jumping course. Did I believe some of Felix Bühler, but I couldn’t find them anymore.
Please forget the whole thing about equipment if you can’t jump very well and reliably at the riding ground! So please invest in reasonable and regular lessons.
And if you don’t have a suitable terrain on site – if there’s one, then you already know about it – then this acquisition won’t “pay” – as I always hate this expression!
I’ll jump. I’d just like to try this all out with obstacles. But that was not the question that I know of myself.
Above all, you need a corresponding trainer and a suitable environment. Then it comes with the equipment by itself.
If you jump into the obstacle with the horse, you know why it is cheaper.
Do not understand the question. just as an example: you want to drive in winter, you need appropriate equipment – say: winter tires. Point. Whether you’re driving or 5x or daily doesn’t matter. You want to jump off, then equip your horse accordingly. Point. Whether you jump or 5x, it doesn’t matter. Or is it worth having a injured horse afterwards?
If you don’t want to buy anything, ask – e.g. with your trainer, instructor, and borrow corresponding gaiters. Or needed to buy, you can get idR reasonable.
Just buy them on classifieds. There are cheap good of, for example, Gera!
