I am now 15 1/2 years old.
The age limit for accompanied driving has been lowered, and I was wondering when the best time to enroll in driving school would be? Should I do it now, and if not, when?
I will be 16 years old in March 2025.

No, that’s not right.
That was one Identification, which the (so evil) federal government had and actually wanted to implement together (coalition agreement).
However, Germany is now part of the EU and this change would not be compatible with EU law. The EU Guideline only provides that accompanied driving a Year before the actual minimum age can be allowed.
Since the final draft of the new EU Guideline does not provide for any change in this respect, the next federal government will not be able to introduce BF16 even if it wanted to do so.
In short: The theme “accompanied driving from 16” has taken place!

To answer your question from when you can go to the driving school:
For BF17 you can go to the driving school from 16 years and 6 months.
You can submit the application half a year before reaching the minimum age, in September 2025.
