Quail jumps?
Hello everyone,
I got four quails about a week ago. When I put them in their coop, they were all actually very calm. But after a few days, I found the place was too dark, so I moved the coop to a partially shaded area. The next morning, however, all the quails were acting really strangely and were frantically jumping against the door. By midday, however, all but one were normal. But when I went to the enclosure this afternoon, one of the quails put its chest on the bedding and stuck its rear end up in the air. When I opened the enclosure, it almost jumped on me. But more than once. What could be causing this?
Thank you in advance for your answers
Kind regards, MG
I’d think your guards might be “forsaken” if they just moved again. Guards get really nervous, maybe not enough coverage in your cradle?
Since they are normally located in congruent grasses and meadows, I would simply take care of more retreat, then they will also think more calmly and again about whether the new location is not too bright.
Do you have a cock or just a female?
4 yellow Japanese leg waxes
At the moment they have only one place but all 4 fit in
As I see this, guards like to jump:

Whether the reason is actually well-being?
Why don’t you ask in one of those forums if you like?
Okay, I just asked a vogelforum. Thanks for the tip
– and good luck; )
I’ve had the problem before. I gave the guards more space (including green area). After that, it cleared up. But if the quails put themselves on the chest because it seems to have some proble I would have this quail for 1-2 days in a relatively dark but with enough food and in front of all water. I hope I could help you

So: my vigils are in winter laying in a relatively small cradle with feed water sandbad and a hiding place. But that only in winter so they can all warm each other. In the spring the then double surface grated and allowed to run on the lawn 2 times a week. It can also be that they are so excited because I’ve put them in the freewheel for 1 time. After that they laid only 1 egg, and on the other days each one laid. The jumping of the one vigil went on the next day after the “exit”. When I looked into the nest today, there was no single egg in it. A vigilant thing even to fly.

Now the watchman finally stopped. Now they’re just running excited when I open the stall. One is flying up
