I pre-ordered directly at Apple at 2:00. But since I only had access to the store at 14:09, I now have 25.09. – 30.09. as delivery time room. When you look at Apple, most configurations are October as a delivery date.
Actually, I wanted to do it like you, but I wasn’t sure when to pick up the new iPhones at the MediaMarkt. According to a Forenuser, this was already a few days after release.
If I see that you can order and pick up the 16 Pro Max in my desired Config earlier at MM, I may cancel my order with Apple again. However, if you pay the full price for the device anyway, it is actually better to buy directly from Apple.
