Hexane is C6H13OH. In complete combustion, it is assumed that all carbons are completely converted to CO2. With 6 carbons, 6 CO2 is released, 6 O2 is needed. The hydrogens form H2 O during combustion with oxygen. Consequently, 7 H2 O are obtained from 14 hydrogens. It takes 7 oxygens, 1 we already have, so we need 6 more, which corresponds to 3 O2. The result:

C6H13OH + 9 O2 —> 6 CO2 + 7 H2O

Note: Editing, as I first read that it is hexanol and started with hexane.

C6H13OH + 9 O2 –> 6 CO2 + 7 H2O
