How to wean a spoiled horse off treats?
Hello:)
I'm buying a 14-year-old mare in two weeks. The owners have spoiled the horse a lot (in the sense of giving her treats). If the mare doesn't get a treat, she pins her ears back. Can you give me some tips?
You could make a slow “withdraw”, i.e. you give her something but a bit less each time. While you give her the leak, you can knock her on the halo or so that she immediately connects it with the good emotions of Delerlis (but you have to do this very consistently) and at the end she needs if you are lucky only that. With this process you should take time, which can take weeks to months and you should always take small steps (always smaller treats). I can’t guarantee that this works but you can try!
Thank you
Better not try. Finally with the leaks, immediately.
Make a cold withdrawal and good is the mouse.
Don’t give anything out of hand for a long time.
Never again leaks, these links have to be overwritten for quite a long time, without which a horse cannot find them again.
No, the horse can’t assign a slow withdrawal. As a result, this would be the keyword.
it doesn’t work.
in the opposite. the horse is getting greedy.
I want to try it out….
Thank you
Just give nix. This is probably better than you expect if you stay consistent. I also had really distrusted rags in the footsteps that pulled the bags on the left, destroyed zippers, got really aggro when the leakerli remained. Most people didn’t even try it with me. Horses can differ very well, where they can afford something.
such a horse is nothing for a teenager with little experience.
horse not buy.
You can’t get this out of the horse alone.
horses that behave like this have in the usually some other mosquitoes in the circumvent.
I’m being helped with this horse. I’ve also collected I just wanted to hear your opinion and know if you still have some tips
yes, let the finger of the horse.
for I have not experienced a hobby-horse owner who would have to feed his horse out of hand. also you will not be consistent enough.
another possibility would be to give the horse 4-6 weeks in riding and to correct in behavior.
I also have mine from Hobby 😉
It doesn’t work here because you have to retrieve something basic like basic education unconsciously before you’re ready for a horse.
With me, there has never been a horse begging, even the ones who come into the stables, to tear off buttons and cord stoppers in search of leaks. Because I’m not just like a feed machine. I can also feed the most distorted beggars out of my hand, without loading anything on me. But until this becomes self-evident, it takes practice and you get it not in days or weeks, but either, you bring the right radiation with or you need years to get the wrong one.
No more leaks. Right away.
You don’t need to let that go. For the horse it is much better, and even more understandable if you are immediately clear and consistent. You are not beged, there are no leaks in between, there are basically no leaks. So you become a reliable person for your horse.
and read your texts again… except for the very misleading title, I remembered: “no leakerli gets”? So she puts her ears when she gets one?
No she only puts the ears when she gets none:( Thanks for the great answer
Just read correction for the next time 😉 I thought it was too much a denial.
Thank you, always happy
Feed the next at least 3 months consistently NOTS out of hand. No treat, no mouth, nothing!
Meanwhile, you can theoretically deal with “Benimm” for your horse, there is a book by Sylvia Czarnecki. Alternatively, the concept of the Clicker training.
Thanks for the tip☺️
There’s only one tip: never again leakage. No fodder “except the row”. And the normal food is always there only when the ears are at least short in front.
Have such a horse that just doesn’t get any more, and when he starts feeding he gets his food later
Go to a coach
It only helps to pamper. For the first time, use leaks and different things like a tube instead of the conventional one. Would then combine different rewards with the treats like voice and claws. Others don’t think of me now.
Slow ingestion does not understand horses, but they notice very well what people they can do.
Doesn’t seem to feed anything out of your hand, and if you bite it at some point, you just have to put your ears on, so…
Ignoring… the “grooming” stops by itself.
