VBB vs. BVG trainee subscription?

I wanted to take out a trainee subscription to use Berlin's public transport. Now I can choose whether I want a VBB (Berlin and Brandenburg) or BVG (only Berlin or the AB transport network). What's confusing me, however, is that the VBB subscription (€384) costs significantly less than the BVG subscription (€534). Apparently, the VBB subscription also allows you to use all public transport. I don't understand why it's so much cheaper. What's the catch?

There is the "VBB-Abo Azubi" (for 384 euros annually in the subscription for the VBB total network) and the "Abo Azubi / Student" (for 534 euros annually in the subscription for Berlin AB, higher prices for larger applications). Both are sold by BVG and by other companies in VBB.

The difference is that it is the "VBB-Abo Azubi" only for trainees or There is a list of pupils with certain training providers: https://www.vbb.de/tickets/abonnements/vbb-aboazubi/

Further explanations are available in the FAQ under https://www.vbb.de/tickets/schueler-training/vbb-aboazubi/faq-fuer-training/
