Father (59) doesn't want to eat anything, what should I do?

We are in the hotel, all inclusive.

My father has only smoked, drunk alcohol, and hasn't eaten anything all day, saying he's full. He vehemently refuses to come to dinner, even now.

It's exactly the same at home: he doesn't eat anything all day or only eats very little (1 sausage and 3 potatoes, or 2 slices of bread).

I'm really worried about his health. How long can his body cope with something like this?

No vitamins, nutrients, and filling the body with beer, alcohol, and cigarettes? He always says he's full from beer?

The alcohol is saturated.

Risk factors > smoking:

bronchial/larynx carcinoma,

COPD,

cardiovascular diseases, with secondary diseases, such as myocardine infarction, apoplex,

peripheral, arterial closure disease.

Regular and lasting consumption of alcohol mainly damages the liver. There can be diseases > fat liver, liver cirrhosis.

At least the liver values > gammagt + transaminases should be controlled, if necessary in addition a sono of abdomen.

To your last question! Your father is a grown-up person and even responsible for his health. You can’t force anyone to consult a doctor. There are several non compliance patients!

Typical behavior of an alcoholic I think, and your father actually has no normal hunger from drinking. He will also know what happens when he goes to KH because of heart problems, because he can’t drink anything except water and tea, which will lead to withdrawal symptoms. You can’t do anything as long as he doesn’t come up with the idea that he needs to change something. You better take care of yourself or you’ll get into the co-existing role. Go to the advice, each city has the AA, anonymous alcoholic.

Your father is obviously alcoholic, and you can only help them with radical means if they are unintentional, stubborn and indoctrinable.

  1. The alcohol fills the stomach. If you have a full stomach, you’re sick.
  2. There is often a combination of eating disorder and alcoholism. Is that true with your father? I don’t know
  3. Alcoholism is accompanied regularly by gastrointestinal complaints. That’s why he doesn’t eat anything.

How long does the body do that with that?

That’s different. Often it goes well for many years and then the body strikes the other from one day. No one can give you a forecast. The fact is, however, that your father is seriously damaged by health.

If he should actually be an alcoholic, it’s normal that he’s disgusting before eating.

He’s grown up. If he doesn’t want to eat, leave him.

I didn’t say it was healthy. However, it is up to him to take action against his possibly present alcoholism and to undergo therapy. You can’t do anything.

It’s his thing.

Alcoholics often don’t eat enough.
