Yeah, that’s the same in Germany. Prices vary depending on the day of the week, season (in holiday areas) and rental period. Even if “organizations” take place at the place or near (e.g. fairs, concerts, Oktoberfest) the prices increase, often very drastically. By the way, restaurants also have different prices (and consequently different menus).

I once booked a hotel room in Munich, which cost 60 euros per night – and a week later (at the Oktoberfest) over 200 euros!

Hotels are companies. Companies want to generate profit first and foremost. For this they demand the highest possible price for what they offer.

Thus, it is neither in the USA nor in Germany that ALL hotel rooms ABALL are particularly expensive on weekends. But where many people like to have a hotel room during the weekend, the entrepreneur naturally takes the highest possible price, for which he can still show all his rooms well!

Under the week you pay less where not so many people like to book a hotel room under the week!

This depends on the hotel as each hotel determines its prices. That many adjust their prices to demand is not surprising.
