Utility OS (SSD/HDD) – Can you recommend any tools?

Hello,

I have a computer I'd like to sell. Can you recommend an operating system tool that would overwrite the hard drives? So I can then boot it from my USB stick. (Unfortunately, I don't have the right term for that… What are these operating systems that run on USB sticks called? I'm sorry.)

I would appreciate an answer.

Formatting and taking out the hook in quick formatting also goes!

nwipe or secure-delete would be tools for it. First the whole plate, over all the partitions. The second is rather data-driven.

Alternatively, you can also write /dev/urandom on the disk several times with ddd.

"Live system"?

nwipe is also located in GRML, which is such a live system bootable by USB stick.
