Use your own name for the main character?

Hi, I have a question: I wanted to start writing a story because I've wanted to do that since I was little, and maybe even become a writer. I'm always making up stories in my head and stuff.

Well, every story needs a main character, and I created one myself four years ago. The problem I have now, however, is that my main character has had my name from the very beginning, and I really can't imagine my main character having a different name. The main character has the same name as me, but is completely different from me—a different look, personality, etc.

I can't find anything about this on the internet, so I thought I'd ask for some opinions here.

So my question is: Would it be stupid if the main character had the same first name as the author? How would you, as a reader of such a story, feel about that? Be completely honest 🙂

Of course, you can, but if you get acquainted, maybe some people think that it should be an autobiography, or that you have taken inspiration from your life (of course, what a genre does). But if it doesn’t matter in principle, just a little confusing. Otherwise, you give yourself an artist name or replace your name with another one after writing history (there is an extra feauture). But just make yourself fun.

You can do that as you want.

But

Writers also have to earn something as a novel author has not every such luck as J.K. Rowlings.

I got the message for two novels, but with the offer 10,000DM or 3000sfz for publication.

I dare to doubt that your parents have that on the high edge.

You can live with literature.

Why not? And if there are people out there with the same name they might find it just because the figure “her” Name.

I prefer books that are not written in “I” perspective, I prefer to find my favorite character 😉

The first name could still be OK, but it could also scare off future readers.

In one of my favorite books, the writer had turned his last name around for the main character.

Writer – Schiel

Main figure – Leisch
