USB stick recognized but not accessible?

I recently bought a new USB stick and tried connecting it today. It's recognized, but I can't access it. Device Manager says the device settings weren't migrated correctly. I've tried several things:

  • Restart PC
  • Update drivers
  • Uninstalled the USB stick again and restarted the PC
  • Tried all USB ports and tested whether other USB sticks work (they do)
  • Update Windows
  • Reset BIOS

The thing is, the drive works perfectly on my laptop, so the problem must be with the PC, but as I said, other USB drives work. I'm using Windows 11 and the model is "SanDisk Extreme PRO 3.2 Solid State Flash Drive 256 GB," if that's relevant. It requires USB 3.0, but it doesn't work with USB 3.0 or 3.1 ports either.

So you searched on the Internet for “windows usb-stick device settings were not properly migrated” and something exactly like it e.g. in MS? Then best to reinstall Win. Don’t reset or overinstall, clean! This is why back up data!
