Hello, I currently have a mechanical keyboard. But I want to buy a new one because this one is broken. A keyboard I liked is only available in the US querty layout. Can I simply transfer the keycaps from my old keyboard to the new one and change the layout to QWERTZ in Windows, or will there be any problems?

Let’s go. The keyboard only reports the position which button has been pressed, not what is on the button. That’s why you always have to choose the appropriate language for the keyboard.
However, some keyboards have more keys, German, French and a few others have more keys as more characters are needed to write normally.
These are the “<" button and the "#" button on the German keyboard. The left Shift button is half as long to get the extra < button in and the Entre button is differently shaped.
So you can’t use all buttons by switching the voice layout and turning the caps.
If your keycaps fit the new one, you can make it, windows is no matter which keyboard you connect when it is set in German.
