Write under a pseudonym?
Hey everyone, I have a quick question. I'm currently writing my own book (or rather, I'm almost finished). Now I'm faced with the question of how to handle the pseudonym. Given the genre and my profession, I'd be happy if people didn't find out my real name. But does that even work? I mean, with test readers and the photo in the blurb, etc., many people will see my face?
Thank you very much in advance for your answers!

It’s working. But you have to make sure that you do not infringe name rights or choose a name as an artist name that exists on the book market.
You also have to observe the imprint obligation! Depending on how you want to publish your book (via a publisher, a self-publishing service provider or the self-publishing service provider), you need to be careful.
An artist name is not a problem with publishing and self-publishing service provider. You enter your artist name and the publisher or Self-publishing service provider is imprinted with company name & address.
This is different in self-publishing: Since no company cooperates in the background, you yourself are responsible for the obligation to imprint. For this, you either have to pack your real name and address into the imprint or alternatively create your own publishing house, which then fulfils the imprint obligation with the publishing address.
As an unknown author, your test readers will be from your direct environment or – if you are with Bookstagram or Booktok are active – consist of followers. You will not give interviews at the beginning, as nobody knows you. If you have successfully published several books under this pseudonym at some point and you might get interview requests in a few years, you can still decide whether to accept them or not.
You’ll talk to the publisher. So one step after another.
The problem starts earlier, doesn’t it? Or how would you handle the test readers?
You’ve got test readers before you write publishers. They know you and know who you are
Jain, some of them, of course. But I would have thought I could make a call on social media to find unbiased readers.
