As long as you use the Personal Edition and you don’t get more than $100 000 (currently ~95 000€) within one year, you don’t have to pay any charges to Unity. From 1.1.2024, this margin is increased to $200 000 (~ 190 000€).

The new term fee announced in recent months applies only to Unity Pro / Enterprise and enters into force from 1.1.2024. This month is expected to be a new LTS version of Unity. Games based on this Unity version, gross sales of $ 1 million (~ 950 000€) and 1 million. First installations within one year must pass a fee to Unity. Either you pay a flat rate of 2.5% of the monthly gross income or it will be calculated a sum based on the monthly initial installations (the initial installations must be counted, for the calculation Unity will provide a computer on its side) – depending on which sum is lower.

More detailed information can be found on the Unity page (Changes to Unity plans and pricing) read.

Ave!

Do yourself the favor and prioritize other engines.

Either you use the Unreal Engine (C++) or if you don’t want to learn a new language Godot (C++, C# and GDscript).

When you start with Unity, you only unnecessarily support corporate policy and confirm it in your project.
