University doesn't want to recognize my home office internship?

Hi everyone!

In spring/early summer 2022, I asked the internship coordinator for my degree program whether I could complete the mandatory internship abroad from home, as I had received a good offer for just such a position from a foreign company. They confirmed that I would gain sufficient intercultural experience and insights online.
So I completed my internship from home in Germany and, as is usual for students (I know, that wasn't wise), waited until now to get it recognized.

This has led to the following problem: I've been sorting through my emails and in the process, I seem to have lost the relevant correspondence with the internship coordinator. This position has since been filled, and the new coordinator claims she can't find the old email and doesn't want to recognize my internship because, in her opinion, it doesn't constitute an internship abroad. Incidentally, there is no more precise definition of what constitutes an internship abroad in the guidelines or the StuPO. Furthermore, the university's website contains internship reports from other students to assist those searching. These reports clearly show that other students at the same faculty were allowed to complete internships abroad from home at the time.

Of course, I know that I could have had the internship credited earlier (but the guidelines also explicitly allow for crediting at any time afterward) and, of course, that I should have kept the email.

The whole thing is now jeopardizing my degree (the internship is the last ECTS I'm missing), and for a new internship I'd have to quit my student job and work for another three months for free for some company.

Has anyone had similar experiences or any suggestions? Does the university have to keep correspondence with students, especially when it comes to such important confirmations?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Should be recognized. Especially since you made an internship report and submitted it, right?! O
