To remove an unfertilized egg or not?
My cockatiels are currently brooding, and on Sunday I'll check to see if they've hatched. If not, should I let them continue to brood until they realize there's nothing inside, or should I take the egg away?
And when are they allowed to breed again?
If you take it away, they’ll make a new one.
How do you find out if the egg is fertilized or not? Can’t just hit it.
you can keep the egg against very bright light then you can see if a chick is in it or not.
new thread – same topic? 🙂
my proposal; let them sit as long as the brood drive takes – in your special case I would try to stimulate as little egg laying as possible …
… so that the good is still “holding”…
So the problem with the egg was just that it had a rough upper layer, the second has made it herself because it was smooth. I’m sorry it broke.
However, if she puts another egg, I will, of course, take care of how she behaves and, if necessary, go back to the doctor. Better spend a lot of money on their health than risk their lives. Finally, of course, I have a lot to do with her:)
